In this session, Chris will share how both Open Source Software and Open Source Program Office's developed within organizations can, and should, play a key role in attracting and retaining talent. With the year on year growth in enterprise OSS adoption and an increasing expectation from candidates and employees to be working closely with open source; this talk will share some of the initiatives, tools and processes that have been used successfully to attract diverse and passionate individuals into organizations. Additionally, methods to retain employees through recognition and reward of their own open source activity and transparency in policies and contracts concerned with employee contribution and IP rights sheds insight into how to minimise unnecessary complications of recruitment and onboarding.
